Forkliftcenter Group establishes new subsidiary at Snake Island, Lagos, Nigeria

March 28, 2022 (Lagos, Nigeria) — The Forkliftcenter Group, a renowned global one-stop shop for forklift trucks and port equipment, is proud to announce the establishment of a new subsidiary: Forkliftcenter West Africa FZE.

The new company will be establishing its first West African location in the Snake Island Integrated Free Zone (SIIFZ), the largest multipurpose seaport in Lagos.

The Snake Island Integrated Free Zone was established as a free-trade zone by Nigerdock in 2005. Its position at the heart of the Lagos port, has proven beneficial in reducing congestion in the area while accelerating economic growth, productivity, national competitiveness and access to global markets.

Serving Nigeria and West Africa

Sil Thonen is Managing Director of Forkliftcenter West Africa FZE. ‘The Forkliftcenter Group is proud to be involved in the strategic evolution of the SIIFZ,’ he said. ‘The location of the SIIFZ will also deliver significant geographical advantages, while there are also economic benefits to being in an integrated free zone.’

The sentiment is shared by Bjorn André de la Porte, CEO and owner of the Forkliftcenter Group. ‘Our new entity, Forkliftcenter West Africa FZE, was prompted by Nigeria’s towering market position and the huge demand for our services in West Africa. It will serve as a much-needed hub-and-spoke location for the region.’

At the official signing ceremony, Maher Jarmakani, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Nigerdock, was also positive: ‘Nigerdock is committed to facilitating the expansion of mid-to-large sized global clients to Nigeria and the West Africa region. We are delighted to have Forkliftcenter kick off its regional operations from SIIFZ.’
